Educator.
As a former middle school teacher and third-generation educator, there is little else that Danielle loves more than collaboratively creating knowledge with students. The classroom is an opportunity to engage ideas, deeply flesh out theory, and spark the change we all wish to see in this world. Through her work in K-12 and higher education, she advocates on behalf of students and teachers by encouraging the enactment of the critical pedagogy required so that all children can learn.
Researcher.
We all have questions and often questions beg answers. Danielle investigates how the intersection of race, inequality, and language impact education. As a trained social scientist and qualitative researcher, her personal research centers on improving the educational circumstances of linguistically and racially marginalized students. Professionally, she utilizes those same skills to bridge the gaps between what we know and what we hope to learn by answering pressing questions with data.
Writer.
Writing is a craft - a specialized and technical skillset on one end and and a catalyst for boundless creativity on the other. What was once a small favor of editing papers here and there for family and friends has fully blossomed into a professional identity. There is a sublime beauty in precision writing and Danielle transforms thoughts into words readers do not soon forget.
